Real Student Review: KIET Honest Students Reviews
1. Academics: Mixed Experience with Heavy Focus on Theory
Academics at KIET are strictly structured and heavily time-bound — 9 to 5 classes, six days a week, and a rigid focus on theoretical content. The college still teaches C programming on outdated platforms like Turbo C (even in 2022), and syllabus updates are not in sync with current industry needs.
There are too many internal evaluations: 2 Class Tests (CTs), 1 Pre-University Test, 1 University Exam, regular assignments, and surprise quizzes. Attendance below 75% is not tolerated, even with valid medical or personal issues — students are labelled as "slow learners" and forced into extra classes and tests.
Faculty quality is highly variable. While some teachers are helpful and understand student concerns, many are underqualified or out-of-touch with modern practices. Several students reported favoritism, internal politics, and lack of freedom in expressing opinions or discussing ideas.
Verdict: Academically demanding but outdated. You learn discipline, not necessarily industry-ready skills.
2. Placement: Quantity Over Quality
KIET advertises strong placements, and yes, many students do get placed — but mostly in mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, etc. Very few core jobs or product-based company placements exist. Most placement packages lie in the range of 3–5 LPA.
The Training and Placement Cell is active, but the emphasis is more on numbers than the actual quality of jobs offered. For students from non-CSE branches, placements are minimal unless you learn coding on your own.
Verdict: Average placement scene — beneficial only if you’re in CSE/IT and proactive about upskilling yourself outside the curriculum.
3. Campus Life: Limited Freedom, High Restrictions
College life at KIET is highly disciplined but often at the cost of student freedom. Attendance rules are strict, hostel life is full of restrictions, and basic permissions (like taking a two-day leave) require multiple signatures. There are clubs and events, but their scale and impact are moderate.
Many students feel mental pressure due to frequent parent calls from faculty, public circulars naming "slow learners", and excessive academic control. The campus is small and surrounded by semi-rural areas, offering limited hangout or exploration options.
Verdict: If you’re looking for a fun or independent college life — this might not be the right place.
4. Infrastructure: Decent But Not Extraordinary
Labs and classrooms are functional, but not top-tier. Most students agree that infrastructure is “okay” — not poor, but not something that adds a wow factor to college life. Library and Wi-Fi facilities are usable, but hostel infrastructure varies — with strict rules and average food.
Verdict: Basic needs are met, but don’t expect premium-level infrastructure or modern facilities.
5. Admission & Crowd: Direct Admissions and Varying Student Quality
Despite claiming top AKTU ranks, a large chunk of students get admitted via management quota. This results in a wide gap in student quality — some are genuinely talented, while many are academically weak or disinterested.
There’s also a perception that the counselling process is misused and that some students with questionable qualifications still get in.
Verdict: Mixed crowd. Peer learning may not be fruitful unless you find like-minded students.
6. Faculty Politics & Internal Bias
Many students report internal politics, revenge behavior by some senior faculty, and a lack of accountability. Some teachers show clear favoritism — students who do well early get good marks throughout, while weak performers are labeled and sidelined regardless of effort.
There are even claims that some teachers teach subjects they aren’t specialized in, just because of internal scheduling or lack of qualified faculty.
Verdict: Faculty behavior is inconsistent. Politics and bias exist and can affect your academic growth.
Final Verdict: Is KIET Worth It?
KIET Ghaziabad is a decent option for students who:
Want a strict, disciplined academic environment.
Are self-motivated to learn beyond the syllabus.
Aim to secure mass-recruiter placements from a private AKTU college.
However, avoid KIET if you:
Expect freedom, creativity, or flexible learning.
Are aiming for high-end tech roles, core jobs, or research.
Want a vibrant, modern college life with practical exposure and global learning.
